Golf courses and country clubs have been enjoyed in Gwinnett since the 1920s. Since then, the game of golf has helped Gwinnett grow its infrastructure, expand its communities, and land more than its share of deals for the Gwinnett business community with relationships built over eighteen holes and a pint or two. With more golfers teeing up this summer, courses have added additional summer staff. John Gerdts COO and general manager of St. Ives Country Club states, "We are starting to see business levels trending towards those prior to the economic crash. This is a good sign."

Jenny Hedges has always been a high-performing student. That's why Gwinnett Technical College BioScience faculty had no doubts that her internship with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources would lead to success.

Just finishing her associate's degree in BioScience Technology, Hedges wanted to apply her laboratory training to an aquatic environment for her required internship. Girl meets fish – at the Buford Trout Hatchery.

There is an estimated $20 million dollars in daily business that is currently being lost to companies outside of Gwinnett specifically, but also metro Atlanta. Our ultimate goal for the "Let's Do Business Gwinnett" Economic Stimulus Plan is to change that statistic by affecting a shift in local business-to-business and government-to-business purchasing so that five percent of the amount now spent outside the Gwinnett area is returned to our local community.
